ASSERTIVE SENTENCES:

Tense: 12 Forms-

Present Indefinite:

Subject + Present form of verb + s/es with third person & singular number only + object + extension

Ex-1: I always go to the temple.

Ex-2: He always goes to the school.

 

Present Continuous:

Subject + am/is/are + Verb + ing + object + extension

Ex-1: We are reading a book now.

Ex-2: You are writing a novel at this moment.

 

Present Perfect:

Subject + have / has + past participle of the verb + object + extension

Ex-1: She has finished her work.

Ex-2: They have completed their tasks.

 

Present Perfect Continuous:

Subject + have/has been + verb + ing + object + extension

Ex-1: I have been reading this book for two hours.

Ex-2: We have been studying since morning.

 

Past Indefinite:

Subject + Past form of the verb + Object + Extension

Ex-1: You went to the school yesterday.

Ex-2: He helped me a lot for the work.

 

 

Past Continuous:

Subject +was / were + verb + ing + Object + Extension

Ex-1: She was reading a book then.

Ex-2: They were watching television when the earthquake came.

 

Past Perfect:

Subject + had + past participle of the verb + object + extension

Ex-1: I had finished the work before my father returned from the market.

Ex-2: He came after the match had begun.

 

Past Perfect Continuous:

Subject + had been + verb + ing + object + extension

Ex-1: It had been raining for the last three days.

Ex-2: They had been preparing the notes for two hours/since morning when I went to the hostel.

 

Future Indefinite:

Subject + shall / will + present form of verb + object + extension

Ex-1: I shall not go to school tomorrow.

Ex-2: We will meet our captain tomorrow.

 

Future Continuous:

Subject + shall / will be + verb + ing + object + extension

Ex-1: You will be going to Mumbai at this time tomorrow.

Ex-2: He will be helping you for the work.

 

 

 

 

Future Perfect:

Subject + shall/will have + past participle of the verb + object + extension

Ex-1: She will have finished her task before her father returns from the shop.

Ex-2: They will have completed the work before the sun sets or by 5 o’clock.

 

Future Perfect Continuous:

Subject + Shall/will have been + verb + ing + object + extension

Ex-1: I shall have been doing this work for two hours.

Ex-2: We shall have been continuing the project.

 

Passive Voice / Object form:

Object + be verb of the tense + past participle of the verb + preposition (by/to/with/ etc.) + subject + extension

Ex-1:

Active/Tense: I am writing a note now.

Passive/Object Form: A note is being written by me now.

 

Ex-2:

The cup has been broken.

 

Model Auxiliary Form:

Subject + Auxiliary verb + main verb + object + extension

Ex-1:

I can do this work.

Ex-2:

We should respect our country/motherland/parents/elders/etc.

 

 

INTERROGATIVES / Question types: (?)

AUXILIARY TYPE:

AUXILIARY VERB + SUBJECT + MAIN VERB/REMAINING FORM OF VERB/other parts + OBJECT + EXTENSION

Ex-1:

Assertive: You are hungry.

Interrogative: Are you hungry?

 

Ex-2:

Assertive: They are reading a book now.

Interrogative: Are they reading a book now?

 

Model Auxiliary Type:

MODEL AUXILIARY VERB + SUBJECT + MAIN VERB/REMAINING FORM OF VERB/other parts + OBJECT + EXTENSION

Assertive: You should not waste your time.

Interrogative: Should you not waste your time?  

 

W/H TYPE:

WHO TYPE: (*It is specially used like assertive but in place of the subject who is used.)

Ex-1:

Assertive: He is the owner of the house.

Interrogative: Who is the owner of the house?

 

Other W/H Type (What, why, which, how, when, etc)

W/H + Auxiliary Verb + Subject + Main Verb / Other Parts + etc

Assertive: You are singing a song now.

Interrogative: Why are you singing a song now?

 

*Other some types of interrogatives sentences which are not mentioned above, the structures are basically or mostly used in spoken English.

 

Imperative sentence (order, advice, suggest, request, command, etc)

Form:

Verb + Object/other parts

Ex-1:

Close the door at once.

Ex-2:

Do not waste your time.

Ex-3:

Do your homework regularly.

Ex-4:

Please/Kindly help me. Please complete the work.

Ex-5:

Fire.

 

Optative: (Wish, Pray, Hope, etc)

May + Subject + Main verb + Object + extension

Ex-1:

May God bless you.

Or:

May God bless you with health, happiness and prosperity.

 

Verb + Object/Other Parts:

Ex-2:

Happy Birthday!

Ex-3:

Good Luck!

Ex-4:

Wish you a happy journey!

Or:

Wish you a happy succeed life.

 

 

Exclamatory: (Exclaim with joy, sorrow, wonder, etc)

(A) Exclamatory Mark/Interjection + Sentence/rest of the sentence + Exclamatory sign (!)

Ex-1:

Oh, That is excellent !

Ex-2:

Wow! I really can’t believe it !

Ex-3:

Ouch! That hurt!

 

(B) What + a/an + adjective + noun + other parts !

Ex-1:

What a beautiful sunset!

Or:

What a beautiful building it is!

 

(C) How + adjective/adverb + subject + verb or other parts !

Ex-1: How gracefully she dances!

Ex-2: How a beautiful flower it is!

 

(D) Emphasizing Strong Emotion:

*Any sentence type with a strong emotional tone, ending with an exclamation point.

Ex-1:

I am so excited!

Ex-2:

That is terrible!
