THE HAPPY PRINCE, CLASS 9, BY P.B.


1. Why do the courtiers call the prince ‘the Happy prince’? Is he really happy? What does he see all around him? (কিয় সভাসদসকলে ৰাজকুমাৰজনক ‘সুখী ৰাজকুমাৰ’ বুলি কৈছিল ? তেওঁ সচাকে সুখিনে ? তেওঁ তেওঁৰ বিষয়ে কি দেখিছে ?)
Ans:
Basically a prince has lots of/many facilities that a king provides him. As same as this, the Happy Prince does not know about tears and sorrows. Even he lives in palace where sorrow is not allowed to enter. So, the courtiers call the prince ‘the Happy Prince’.
            Yes, absolutely right, because the prince was very happy when he was in the palace.
            He sees that when he was in the palace then he had not any sorrows. But, after his dead and set up his statue in high, now he can see the ugliness and all the misery of his city. So, he is very sorrow now.

2. Why does the Happy Prince send a ruby for the seamstress? What does the swallow do in the seamstress house? (কিয় সুখী ৰাজকুমাৰজনে দৰ্জীজনীৰ বাবে ৰবীটো দিছে ? সেই চৰাইটোৱে দৰ্জীজনীৰ ঘৰত কি কৰিছে ?)
Ans:
When the Happy Prince looks at the room then he sees that the seamstress’s little boy is lying ill. He has been a fever and the boy is asking his mother to him oranges. But his mother has nothing to give anything but only the river water. For these reasons, the Happy Prince sends a ruby for the seamstress.
            To give support for the seamstress and the thirsty boy, the swallow picks out the great ruby from the Prince’s sword and flies away with it in his beak. Entering the room, the swallow lays the great ruby on the table beside the woman’s thimble. After that, he flies gently round the bed and fanning the boy’s forehead with his wings.

3. For whom does the prince send the sapphires and why? (কাৰ বাবে ৰাজকুমাৰজনে নীলকান্তমণিটো দিছে আৰ কিয় ?)
Ans:
The prince sends the sapphires to the playwright.
According to the information of the Happy Prince, the playwright is leaning over a desk covered with papers. His hair is brown and crisp, and his lips are red as a pomegranate. He has large and dreaming eyes. He is trying to finish a play for the Director of the Theatre, but he is too cold to any more. There is no fire in the grate and hunger has made him faint. The Happy Prince wants to give the sapphires that he will sell it to the jeweler and buy firewood and can finish his play.

4. What does the swallow see when it flies over the city? (নগৰৰ ওপৰেদি উৰি যাওঁতে চৰাইটোৱে কি কি দেখিছে ?)
Ans:
When the swallow flies over the city, he sees that the rich is making merry in their beautiful houses, while the beggars are sitting at the gates. In the dark lanes, the swallow sees the white faces of starving children looking out listlessly at the black streets. Under the archway of a bridge, two little boys are lying in each other’s arms to try and keep themselves warm. They are expressing as hungry. Also, when the watchman shouts and orders not to lie there then they wander out into the rain.

5. Why did the swallow not leave the prince and go to Egypt? (কিয় চৰাইটোৱে ৰাজকুমাৰক এৰা নাছিল আৰ ইজিপ্তলৈ যোৱা নাছিল ?)
Ans:
After the plucked out all the eyes, the prince was blind totally. Then, the prince could not able to see anything and the miserable condition of his city. So, the swallow decided to stay with the Happy Prince to describe or inform the all current details of the city.
                Also, he told him the stories of what he had seen in the strange lands. The swallow felt very sorry for the Happy Prince and he liked the Prince very much as he could support the prince for his satisfaction.

6. What are the precious things mentioned in the story? Why are they precious? (সাধুটোত উল্লেখ কৰা মূল্যবান বস্তুকেইটা কি কি ? কিয় সেইবোৰ মূল্যবান ?)

Ans:
The leaden heart of the Happy Prince and the dead bird are the two most precious things that God suggests to bring.
                These are most precious because the Happy Prince’s leaden heart was so good. As, the Happy Prince’s leaden heart wanted to solve the problems of his city and cried internally at the miserable condition of his people. The swallow or the bird was also precious because the bird did many works for removing the sorrowful moments and helped the problems of people. Also, the bird sacrificed his journey to Egypt and sacrificed his life for the Happy Prince and their people.
